1. Schedule

Insured location: Cell FL-0417 · Tampa Bay · 27.95°N 82.46°W · 10 × 10 km

Index: 10-minute sustained wind in km/h, the agreed value of three sources.

Sources: ground station, NOAA satellite imagery and radar. Two of three must agree within ±3 %; the agreed value is the median.

Strike: 150 km/h · Exit: 189 km/h · Limit: $250,000 per event · Period: 12 months from inception.

2. Payment tiers

Tier 1, from 150 km/h: 25 % of the limit, $62,500.

Tier 2, from 168 km/h: 50 % of the limit, $125,000.

Tier 3, from 189 km/h: 100 % of the limit, $250,000.

3. How a payment is made

When the index in the insured cell crosses the strike, an independent calculation agent checks the tier against this schedule and signs. Payment is sent to the account on file. No claim form, no adjuster, no proof of loss.

4. Basis risk

The payment follows the index, not the loss. A loss can happen without the index crossing the strike, and the index can cross the strike with a smaller loss. Read the policy disclosures before you buy.
