Cookie policy
Which cookies the Tripline website uses, why, and how to change your choices.
This is an example document written for a fictional company (Tripline Underwriting Ltd). Have it reviewed by a lawyer and adapted to your business, tools and jurisdiction before you publish it.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. Similar technologies, such as local storage and pixels, work the same way. They let a site remember your choices, work properly and understand how it is used. This policy explains which ones the Tripline website, operated by Tripline Underwriting Ltd, uses and how you can control them.
2. Why we use them
We use cookies to keep the site working and secure, to remember the choice you make in the cookie banner, and, only if you agree, to measure how visitors use the site so we can improve it. We do not use cookies to sell your data or to build advertising profiles.
3. The categories we use
Strictly necessary — Keeps the site working, remembers your cookie choice, protects forms from abuse — No.
Preferences — Remembers settings such as reduced motion or the region shown on the map — Yes.
Analytics — Counts visits and shows which pages are read, so we can improve the content — Yes.
Marketing — Not used on this site — Not applicable.
4. Cookies on this site
consent — Tripline — Stores your cookie choice — 12 months.
cell-region — Tripline — Remembers the region you last selected on the cell map — 6 months.
_analytics_id — Analytics provider — Distinguishes visitors so they can be counted (only after consent) — 13 months.
_analytics_session — Analytics provider — Groups page views into a single visit (only after consent) — 30 minutes.
5. The cell map and your device
The cell map on the home page runs in your browser and draws its data from files that the site delivers. It does not collect your position and does not set a cookie unless you choose a region, in which case the cell-region cookie records that choice. If your device is set to reduce motion, the map is shown in its final state without animation.
6. Third parties
Analytics are provided by a third party acting on our behalf. If we embed a video or a booking tool, the provider of that content may set its own cookies when you interact with it, and we ask for your consent before loading it. Each provider’s own policy describes what it does with the data.
7. How to manage your choices
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept all cookies, refuse non-essential cookies or choose by category. You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. You can also delete cookies or block them in your browser settings; strictly necessary cookies may then stop working, and some parts of the site may not display properly.
8. Do Not Track and similar signals
Browsers offer signals such as Global Privacy Control. Where the law requires it, we treat a valid opt-out signal as a refusal of non-essential cookies. Browsers also offer “Do Not Track”, for which there is no common standard, so we do not respond to it in any other way.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows the latest version. Questions about cookies can be sent through the address shown on the Contact page: [Contact address: see Contact page].
